There’s only one consistent thing about ADHD: it’s inconsistency.

— Hi, I’m Marisa, I am a licensed mental health professional and I have ADHD.

I’ve struggled with severe ADHD since elementary school. It wasn’t until I failed a graduate class and experienced the end of a relationship that I fully realized how profoundly ADHD affected every aspect of my life.

everyday

Felt like I was just trying to keep my head above water.

Was a constant battle to do what I needed but I couldn’t follow through.

My Story

I was constantly behind on everything

Late bills, weeks of piled up mail, dishes overflowing, and my dreams slipping away. I wanted more than just barely making it through
each day.

I would

Spend days in a mental fog, battling the guilt and shame of getting nothing done.

I would

Leave my house so messy and disorganized that the thought of anyone seeing it felt embarrassing.

I would

Operate on bursts of organizational inspiration, only to lose focus days later and fall back into my ADHD haze.

I realized that

No one was coming to save me–I had to figure out strategies to tackle
my symptoms head-on.

”I can do these hard things”

In 2021, I wrote myself a sticky note that said, "I can do these hard things," and hung it on my refrigerator. Now, in 2024, I’m (mostly) doing those hard things.

I’ve spent the past four years learning everything I can about ADHD and developing strategies to manage it. These insights helped both me and my ADHD psychotherapy clients–and now, I want to share them with you.
